Pettine

Price is for ONE pettini. Image is to depict that items are unique in nature and the design varies from piece to piece.

Made my Marco Galavotti, a carpenter with thirty years of experience, born and raised in the province of Modena.
He grew up being the assistant towns local carpenter's shop, to which he has now become the successor.

These Pettine are made using the same traditional techniques which have been used for centuries.

To this day, there are still a handful of artisans who make pettini in the traditional way, although this tool is quite rare. The most precious version is made by hand from antique loom combs, whose tiny bamboo slats are secured together between two wooden rods using twine.

The story of each pasta comb is completely unique. Marco’s pettini are restored from the textile combs from the region, used over 100 years ago. These combs from materiale povero, or “poor materials”: bamboo, hemp twine, and local wood from elm and fir trees. Every single pettine has over 100 years of life and use between its delicate slats.

  • Handmade from reclaimed bamboo weaving combs and natural wood
  • Comes with three different diameter rod
  • Item may appear different than photo – each piece is artisanal and unique!
  • Approx dimensions 24x11x2 cm
